Communication and Collaboration Tools

If you are looking for voice communication, video communication and small group meetings say for a tutorial, collaborating with other class in another school, or even presenting to a class online try the following:

Skype is a software application that allows users to make voice calls over the Internet. It is an internet telephone and video calling service with screen-sharing. Calls to other users within the Skype service are free.

Google Video Chat allows users who have gmail accounts to connect with voice and video chat. The google voice and video chat plugin need to be downloaded and installed.  Then the users need to log-in to their gmail,  after restarting the browser. As they mouse over their friends name, a menu should appear to the right of the mouse showing the other person's name and options of what the user can do with him (like email, chat, video&more) Once the user select "Start video Chat"., the other user should see a chat window pop up with a video and hear ringing sound. Once he press the "Answer" both user can see each other and video chat.


iChat Included with Mac OS X, iChat is a rich instant messaging application that works with AIM or MobileMe account and makes it easy to stay in touch with friends and family using text and video, whether they’re on a Mac or a PC.
